There is always a first time for Abstract Art
Through out my life as and artist, I have embraced painting as something you see, then you can put in your canvas or paper. I always looked at abstract art as something with no rhythm or reason. I was wrong!
One day a friend of mine who loves to do abstract art to relax and unwind, spoke to me about a event he had with a humming bird. We spoke about spirit animals, the Mexican tradition of “Alebrijes” and other crazy stories like Harry Potter touching on those concepts.
After our conversation I started to think how his spirit humming bird would look like. As I could not reproduced what he saw and I though of it more of as an abstract concept. Being an Architect and and Interior designer, I thought of the 5 elements of design:
Arrival
Path
Nodes
Domains
Center
Each one of these make exterior and interior spaces and we humans perceived them as organized pattern and they can actually change our behavior.
So the experiment started with 5 basic regulating lines that will become the paths to create domains and centers of interest in the image that I wanted to create. That is how it all evolved.
Now I experiment with color, figure ground, hues, tones, shade and rhythms.
I hope you enjoy my experiments.
